2023 marks a huge milestone for ND Precision Products; throughout this year the company will be celebrating its 50th anniversary! During the course of this year the company will be reflecting on the past 50 years in business, so make sure to follow the company on social media to keep up to date.
ND Precision Products was founded in 1973 by precision toolmakers David Squire and Gordon Gregory. Their intention was to manufacture high precision tooling for the electronics industry, which proved a success, because after 8 years of successful trading the company outgrew its original premises and was moved to a larger site in Barnstaple, North Devon. A major building expansion at these premises provided a further 3000 square feet of manufacturing floor space to accommodate a wire erosion department.
In 1980, David’s son Nick Squire joined the company as an apprentice to expand his knowledge and skills in all aspects of toolmaking and precision engineering. It was not until 1999 that he bought out Gordon to become a Partner in the business. A few years later Nick then bought out David to be the sole owner and Managing Director of the company.
Under the leadership of Nick Squire, the thriving family business has made substantial investments in high-tech manufacturing plant and has witnessed an expansion of its skilled workforce. These developments have allowed the North Devon, UK based business to significantly expand its manufacturing competencies and to considerably increase its manufacturing capacity, producing tools and components with a high level of accuracy and surface finish, for a wide variety of industries including medical, aerospace, military, automotive and toys.
NDPP’s all-embracing range of services now include, mould and press tool manufacture, wire erosion, EDM drilling, 3D laser scanning, laser welding, injection moulding, gauge making, precision machining, high-speed milling and jigs and fixture manufacturing.
When reflecting on this milestone anniversary for the company, Managing Director Nick Squire said. “I am so proud of what this company has achieved over the past 50 years, it has not always been easy and there have been tough economic times to overcome. However, the company has always managed to overcome each obstacle faced, and we must thank the past and present employees for this as they have helped grow and shape the company to become what it is today. It is also important not to forget the customers whose custom have enabled growth and the suppliers that have supported us to deliver our services.”
But this period is not just for reflection, it is also about looking to the future where the company will continue to invest in the latest equipment to remain at the forefront of industry developments as one of the UK’s leading press and mould toolmakers.
